A note from Coach Reaves:
What an unbelievable day for Cougar Cross Country! At the District Meet our runners took home some serious hardware, to say the least. We earned, count them, four medals! Our Junior Varsity Boys boldly claimed three of the top six finishes. Hannah Davis earned her second medal of the season. All these medals are even more impressive considering it rained almost the entire meet. Following the races our runners looked more like football players! Mud, sweat, grass, and even tears were some of the identifiable liquids and solids on our runners (I must confess there were also some unidentifiable substances I saw). I don't think the legendary Converse® shoes, proudly laced each race by Alex Clem, will survive after the brutal beating they endured on the muddy and slippery course (I will miss you Converse® shoes).
I was touched by the effort of Caroline Cubberley, who sprinted to the finish line after struggling to complete the race. She gasped for air and was teary-eyed as she told me she was determined not to finish last. The sport of running continues to amaze me in its ability to remind me of my walk with Jesus Christ. Caroline suffered through a rough race, but she finished strong! Caroline loves the Lord and says the most beautiful prayers for us before and after practices. You go, girl!
Let's get excited for the bright future in store for Cougar Cross Country. Our Varsity runners have been pushing the younger runners all season and it's now paying dividends! I love to run and love coaching our runners.
Cougar Cross Country just keeps getting better!
