Wow! What a meet! I was so proud of the team effort at John Cooper. Ashley Mozey celebrated her 17th birthday with a personal best. Way to go, girl! Her brother, Ricky, came in tenth place out of forty runners and earned a medal, which was the second medal for the season. Great job, Ricky! Be proud of your first Cross Country medal! Jordan Franklin poured in a final sweat-producing sprint earning the first “Sub-Twenty” time of the season at a sizzling 19:57 (I yelled in his ear the final hundred meters). Blaine Tonking was hard on his tail finishing with his personal best at 20:03. Way to push each other, guys!

In sum, NCS ran strong at John Cooper, but what impressed me most was how the runners encouraged each other. They continue to show a greater understanding of the spiritual side of running and the life lessons gleaned from pumping blood through the heart.

I also appreciate the strong showing of parents at this meet. The runners appreciate your presence more than you know.

It's time to take notice of Cougar Cross Country. We will keep getting better!
