A note from Coach Reaves:
I was so proud of the runners for running heart and soul. Little Hannah Davis inspired us all when she placed fifth in the Junior Varsity Girls division. Seeing the medal around her neck made us all smile with pride. Great job Hannah!
Each runner now has a time he or she can work from as the season progresses. I am continually coaching in not only the physical aspect of running, but the spiritual as well.
What if Jesus had not finished what he started? What if his final breath was full of curses for those who nailed him to the cross? Although he would not have been blamed for his anger, all hope of salvation would have been lost!
I am coaching the runners to finish stronger than they start. Leave pride at the starting line and follow the pace set for you. Then, in a surge of speed, increase the pace and pass runners all the way through the line. Do not slow down as you approach the line, run through it!
Challenger 7 Park was a great location with a killer hill and muddy spots from the rain. All in all I was pleased with the enthusiasm an desire to run and run better. Cougar Cross Country will keep getting better! |
