Ft. Bend

L
29-58
10-7

As our 25th game of the season began, we knew we were in for a battle. Ft. Bend came out with spark, a spark that we didn't have. Without four girls in the lineup, two of which are starters, we were a little short handed this game. Ft. Bend 's full court press early in the game led to turnovers and easy baskets for the Eagles. At the end of the first period, Ft. Bend led by the score of 10-4. The second period was more of the same. Bianne Hodenfield, Ft. Bend 's leading scorer who averages almost 20 points per game this year, scored 14 of her 24 points in the 2nd period. We (Northland) continued to fight in the 2nd half, but came up short. We did outscore Ft. Bend in the fourth period 14-12. The final score was in favor of the Eagles, 58-29.

As a team, we shot 8 for 22 (36%) from the floor, 0 for 11 (0%) from behind the arc, and 13 for 22 (59%) from the line. Brittany Flowers led the team in scoring with 11, followed by Emily Wilson with 10. Emily also led the team with 10 rebounds and a blocked shot. Allison Gilbert and Ashlyn Templeton also had a blocked shot each. Brittany Flowers also led the team with 3 assists and 4 steals. One of our downfalls tonight was our 32 turnovers which led to a lot of Ft. Bend baskets. Ft. Bend shot 67 field goals, along with 6 3-pointers. We need to limit our opponents shots and reduce our turnover margin. Those are two areas of the game in which we need to improve on.

Our next game will be Friday (at Northland) vs. the Eagles of Second Baptist.
