In our first game of the Cypress Christian tournament, we faced the Eagles of Faith West out of Katy , Texas . Faith West possessed 2 quick and aggressive point guards in the front court. We knew from the start of the game they would be hard to handle. We began the game in a man defense. Robyn Archer scored the first 2 baskets of the game (both 3 pointers) to take an early 6-0 lead. After the first period, NCS led by the score of 16-7. The 2nd period was a back and forth battle as we took a 31-21 lead into half. Bailee Pender and Robyn continued to pile up the points in the 2nd half. Eight of the ten players for Northland scored points. We had several girls out this game due to injury and illness. The final score was Northland 57, Faith West 40.
    As a team, we shot 15 for 43 (35%) from the floor, 4 for 5 (80%) from behind the arc and 15 for 21 (71%) from the free throw line. Bailee Pender led the team in scoring with 19 points followed by Robyn Archer with 18 points (4 of 5 from 3 point range). Bailee also led the team with 14 rebounds and 6 assists. Kelsey Hickman led the team with 3 steals and Emily Wilson added 3 blocked shots.
    We'll face the tough team of Rosehill Christian in the second round on Friday night. It will be the 2nd game vs. Rosehill in less than a week.
