In our first game back after Thanksgiving break, the girls came ready to play. Our opponent was Covenant Christian located in Conroe. The first period was a battle as both teams came out strong. We led after the 1st period by a slim margin of 13-9. We slowly began to break away the rest of the game. Our man to man defense led to many positive turnovers and steals for the Lady Cougars. By halftime, the lead was 23-14. Brittany Flowers and Kelsey Hickman came out strong in the 3rd period shooting a combined 5 for 6 from the floor and keeping the tempo of the game at the speed we desired. By the end of the 3rd, we led 40-25. Robyn Archer led the team in the 4th scoring 5 of her 7 points. The final score was in favor of Northland 51-31.
As a team, we shot 21 for 56 (38%) from the floor, 1 for 7 (14%) from behind the arc and 6 for 15 (40%) from the line; our lowest FT percentage all year. Bailee led the team in scoring with 18 points, along with 4 steals. Emily led the team with 10 rebounds. Robyn and Brittany each had 4 assists. Robyn and Karen tied with 1 blocked shot a piece and Karen also took a charge.
Our next game will be Thursday at home at 4:30 as we face a tough and quick Duchesne team.
