Wow, our boys show heart! They are so inspiring to watch. They hustle and dive for balls. They show grit and determination from beginning to end. I am so honored to coach them. Our team purpose is to make God look good, in victory and defeat. We were defeated on this evening, but we definitely made God look good by the incredible effort shown. We have decided that we will not beat ourselves this season. We will stress the fundamentals and play smart. We are a short team, but quick and intelligent in our decision-making. This goal was also reached as we simply lost to a better team. Faith West has a player who can dunk! I kid you not! They also have a second player well beyond the six-foot peak. Our strategy was to take away the paint and give the outside shot. This strategy worked until their towering center became aggressive in the fourth quarter. We ran out of steam in the end as it is difficult to play at such a high-energy level for four quarters. Because of our height disadvantage, we will need to learn and condition for four quarters of energy when we play taller teams.
We again played as a team and the stats prove our teamwork. Michael Pender scored 7 points, 7 assists, and 5 steals. Keaton Hart and John Horsey each earned a double-double. What an amazing performance! Keaton contributed 8 points and grabbed 10 boards. John Horsey nailed 13 points and 12 rebounds. Will Sheffield gave us a few tough minutes off the bench when he needed him to protect the paint. Great job men! I am proud of you! We will get another shot at these guys!
