This was the first game of our weekend tournament held at Cypress Christian. We were far more talented than Rosehill and did our absolute best to keep the score respectable. Rosehill showed heart, which resulted in our bench players, who played more than the starters, suffering a myriad of injuries. Most notable was Malcolm Barnes dislocating his pinky. A pinky is not supposed to bend like that! Ouch! That's got to hurt! Malcolm was tough and was on the bench to support his teammates for the evening championship game.
Keaton Hart scored 12 points and Justin Jackson had 11 points, including a running buzzer beater from NBA-range at the end of the first quarter. Most impressive in this game was the bench performance. NINE DIFFERENT PLAYERS SCORED IN THIS GAME! Now that is team play!
Again I was impressed with the Christ-like attitude of our players. Because of the time and location of this game, we were unable to attend the funeral for Erik Castillo. Before the game, after an emotional pre-game pep talk, the players eagerly decided to dedicate the tournament to the memory of Erik Castillo.
Thank you, Jesus, for the life of Erik Castillo. May you receive his soul into your Kingdom.
