Northeast Christian was a solid team. This game could have been even closer if not for the greatest half these boys have ever played. In the first half we outplayed them in every facet of the game. I was pumped on the sidelines! The first half was a joy to watch, especially because two of my NCS high school buddies, who I graduated with and played basketball with, were sitting in the stands to see me coach and see this team play, and play well they did! Because of the successful first half, the bench was able to sweat and breathe hard towards the finish line where another Cougar victory awaited them.
Justin “JJ” Jackson, as he has done so many times this season, led all scorers with 21 points. Michael Pender contributed a team-high 7 assists. Keaton Hart grabbed 10 boards and A.J. Ortenstone added 8 of his own.
We have one more game to win and finish the season with an unfinished winning streak. I told these boys to remember this special season and the many spiritual lessons they have learned through the sweet game of basketball.
