Finally! A close game! These young men showed they are able to finish a back-and- forth tight contest. Holy Trinity was originally scheduled for the 8th grade team and has improved since we played them the first game of the season. Holy Trinity had also added a talented player or two, and as a result gave us a full portion of hustle and heart, as well as a number of “uncalled” bank shots from three-point land. There were big plays down the stretch which helped us close with yet another Cougar victory. A.J. Ortenstone contributed a huge steal late in the game. Robbie “In your eye!” Dillard nailed a baseline jumper to maintain our small lead late in the fourth quarter. Landon Breeding took a charge, which is a rare sight at this young level, and Justin Jackson nailed two throws after being fouled in the last few seconds of the game. Now this was an exciting game and once again these young stallions delivered.
As for stats, allow me to introduce to you Justin “Silky Smooth” Jackson and Mr. Keaton “Rebound Machine” Hart. Justin poured in the season-high and personal high of 30! I kid you not, 30! All I can say is, “Please stay your humble self Justin, and keep giving God the glory.” Keaton had another double-digit night in rebounds with 13. Keaton is the best at following his shots and claiming, the normally unclaimed, offensive board.
I hope you, like me, are appreciating the excellence of this team. This winning streak of 10 games is a treat for me and well as for the fan. At the beginning of the season I told these young men that our purpose for the season was to make God look good. This purpose is being realized at games and at practice. Keep up the good work men!
Let's finish strong!
