If you didn't see this game, you missed a great one. The girls played all out… all game long. Our biggest obstacle tonight turned out to be our shooting percentage. We started out the game shooting only 2 for 12 in the 1st period. The rest of the game wasn't much better. Defensively, the girls played great. From the tip off to the final buzzer, the girls never let up. We had a few mistakes on the defensive side of the ball, but we hustled and played great help side defense. After falling behind 10-4 in the first period, we rallied back and outscored Second Baptist 7-5 in the 2nd and 10-9 in the 3rd . The score was 21-24 heading into the 4th. In the 4th, 2nd Baptist went on a shooting spree. They connected on most of their shots, shooting 7 for 8 (3 of which were 3 pointers) and 3 for 4 from the line. We lost by the score of 31-44. Lindsey led the team in rebounds with 12, Kate led in assists with 7, Kate and Bailee tied with 2 steals each and Lindsey and Emily finished the game with 3 blocked shots a piece. Bailee led the team in scoring with 10 and Kate followed with 9 points.
As a team, we shot 11 for 37 (30%) from the floor, 1 for 5 (20%) from behind the arc, and 6 for 7 (86%) from the line (our best percentage all year). The girls are optimistic and even though we took our first district loss tonight, we're ready to play Lutheran North on Friday night to redeem ourselves. Coach Keeling and I were extremely proud of the way the girls fought the entire game. We took several strides tonight in the right direction that will pay off in the long run.
