In our first game back after Christmas break, we came out a little sluggish all around. We fought hard in the 1st and were only trailing by 2 points after the first 8 minutes, 14-16. In the second period, our defense began to break down, along with too many turnovers. We trailed at half by the score of 23-32. The 2nd half played out the same as the first; a ton of turnovers resulting in a lot of shots and fast breaks for Northeast and none for us. We only were able to take 35 shots for the game compared to their 59. We ended the game with 31 turnovers. NCA won by the score of 61-42. Lindsey led the team in rebounds with 14. Kate led the team in assists with 5, Karen led in steals with 3 and Emily led in blocks with 4. Brittany led the team with 12 points and Bailee followed with a close 10. As a team, we shot 13 for 32 (41%) from the floor, 2 for 3 (67%) from 3 point range and a dismal 10 for 21 (48%) from the line. It was an extremely physical game with a lot of emotion from both teams. I feel that this will serve us well down the road. We have one more game to get back in sync before we start district next Tuesday when we play Houston Christian.
