This was our second meeting of the year against the Lions of Lutheran North. We fell short the first time 41-49. We were hoping to keep our playoffs hopes alive with this game. If we won, we would be playoff bound, and if we lost, our season would be over. The first half was back and forth. It was composed of several lead changes and great defense from both teams. At the end of the first period, the score was tied at 6. At half, the score was tied at 14. Lutheran North came out with several formations and defenses that we had not seen all year. Although we weren't prepared for this, the girls continued to fight hard and made adjustments on the run. We were able to come out in the 2nd half after making several changes on offense to take a 6 point lead heading into the fourth and final period (27-21). In the 4th period, we shot 70% from the floor and made 5 of 6 free throws to seal the victory. We won by the final of 46-34. The girls played with more patience than we have seen in a while. Our passing was crisp and we ended the game with only 12 turnovers.
Lindsey led the team in rebounds with 12; Brittany led in assists with 5; and Lindsey led in steals with 6. Brittany led the team in scoring with 13 points, followed by Bailee with 10.
As a team, we shot 17 for 53 (32%) from the floor, 1 for 2 (50%) from behind the arc, and 9 for 11 (82%) from the line. Now we will face Westbury Christian in the 3rd round of the District Tournament on Monday at 2:30 at Second Baptist. The 1st round of the playoffs will be determined after Monday and Tuesday's games.
