The Lady Cougars of NCS showed us how tough they really were. In our 3rd and final game vs. Cypress Christian this season, we knew it was going to be a battle. CCS has a quality team with a lot of athletes. We stayed in a full court press for the entire game. This press led to 27 steals for the Lady Cougars, 20 in the first half. At half time, we had a 26 -11 lead. Cypress rallied back in the 3rd period outscoring the Cougars 14-6 to close the lead to 7 points, 32-25. Despite Bailee and Emily fouling out in the 4th period, we held on to win by the score of 46-39. This was the Lady Cougars 4th win in a row.
As a team, we shot 18 for 61 (30%) from the floor and 0 for 3 (0%) from 3 point range. We made 10 of 13 (77%) free throws, the best so far this season. Bailee led the team in scoring with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Kate led the team with 4 assists. Lindsey, Kate and Emily tied with 6 steals each and Bailee and Lindsey tied on block shots with 4 a piece. Our record now stands at 8-5 on the season with only the Galveston Tournament and St. Thomas Episcopal left before Christmas break. |
