Our main goal this game was to shut down their best player, Miller, who scored 18 of their 33 points in our first meeting on November 6, 2006. We came out strong in the 1 st period outscoring St. Thomas Episcopal 17-6. We came out polar opposite in the 2nd only shooting 3 for 21 from the floor and 2 for 2 on free throws, and St. Thomas closed the gap to 6 points by half (25-19). We slowed the ball down on offense in the 3rd and racked up more assists than we've had all season. We finished the game with 14 assists. The final period was all even with both teams scoring 8 points. We won by the score of 45-35. Although we allowed Miller to score 29 of their 35 points, our defense held strong in all other aspects. This was by far the best all around game the girls have played all season up to this point. As a team, we finished the game with 46 rebounds, 14 assists, 10 steals, 2 blocks and 2 charges. We only had 6 turnovers as a team (a season low). The guards played a phenomenal game controlling the tempo. We shot 19 for 64 (30%) from the floor, 4 for 4 (100%) from the line and 1 for 6 (17%) from 3 point range. Lindsey led the team in rebounds with a season high 19, along with 4 assists tying teammate Kate Terry. Lindsey also led the team in steals with 3, 1 block shot along with Emily, and 1 charge taken, once again, along with Kate. We have 2 games to play when we come back in January before we start up district. Please come out and show your support of these great girls.
