Season Opener is a baseline for these girls.  We have lots of improving to do!  I see some potential and this young team will be doing much better come January.   Our first match was against the CHSA wolverines. They had some pretty big 12 year olds and played well together.  The final score was 7-36.  The three scoring members of the Northland team were Erika Martinez, Briona Chatman, and Ashlyn Templeton.

First district game is at CCCS.  Reminds me of my first Volleyball at CCCS - we lost!  However, each game brings a positive and I saw the semblance of a fast break today. We will get it soon and that will bring a new dimension to our game. Leading rebounder:  Tola Adelekan     Leading in steals:  Briona Chatman   Leading scorer:  Taryn Eubanks The 7th grade girls fall to the Warriors 13-20.

I suppose the travel to Second Baptist just took it out of the B team today.  The shots weren't there and the defense was missing as well.  The Eagles had a very strong team of 6th and 7th grade girls and our Cougars were no match.

The 7th grade girls basketball team played St. Francis the week we returned from Christmas.   A coach never knows what to expect from that, but I must say the Lady Cougars put on a pretty good show.  Most Valuable Player offensively was Briona Chatman.  She scored 16 pts.  Most Valuable Player defensively was Taryn Eubanks. She caused several turn-overs that led to scoring by Northland.  The final score was 28-11.

Wow!  The new year has been good to the 7th grade girls - we won another game!  The Cougars played a scrappy, little team of homeschoolers and they gave us a great game.   Leading scorer was Ashlyn Templeton with 16 points.  The final basket was a beautiful series of passing to Rebecca Whisler, who scored her second basket of the season!  What a finish.  :)  The final score was 22 - 18.

Another good game for the 7th grade girls in Basketball.  We took on St. Francis and ran a full court press for the first time.  I must say the girls really took to this and it paid off with some easy baskets.  The final score was 20 - 10. Floor leaders were:   Rebounding:  Briona Chatman and Ashlyn Templeton / Steals:  Briona Chatman and Ella Bayne / Hustle play:  Erika Martinez and Taryn Eubanks / Scoring: Briona Chatman and Taryn Eubanks.

The 7th grade girls finished with the team we started with and had the same results.  I was really hoping to finish with a win, but the Warriors of CCCS were just too much for us.  Leading in steals were Ashlyn Templeton and Rebecca Whisler.  Leading scorer was Rebecca Whisler with 4 points!  The girls showed a lot of improvement this season.  Thanks to all of you for your support. Final score was 10-28.
