The Northland Cougars took 1st place at the John Cooper tournament this past weekend. The Coogs went 4-0 in the and showed great team work throughout the tournament.

2/29 Northland 10 FTW Trinity Valley 9
Joe Cate was the star of the game going 4-5 with 3 RBI's at the plate and also getting the win in 1 inning of relief. Brett Wyatt added 3 hits while Stuart Trahan had 2. Cate, Wyatt, and Shane Knight all each had 1 double, while Dillon Hendrix added a triple.

2/29 Northland 16 Cypress Christian 1
Stuart Trahan pitched a complete game with 5 stikeouts while only allowing 1 run. At the plate the Coogs punded out 10 hits with Trahan, Matt Sinclair, and Trevor Winne each with a pair. Trahan, Winne and Copeland all had doubles for the game.

3/1 Northland 5 John Cooper 3
B.J. Barajas went the distance picking up the win in this game. Barajas, who was injured in the previous game and was a game-time decision on the mound, showed tremendous courage holding the host team to 3 runs in 7 innings. The Coogs broke through with some timely hitting to pick up the win. Dillon Hendrix (triple) and Trevor Winne (double) had extra base hits for the Coogs.

3/1 Northland 14 Northside 3
In the championship game of the tournament, Kyle Serres saw his first action of the season on the mound and looked in mid-season form. Serres pitched 5 innings, giving up only 3 runs while striking out 9. Joe Cate (double), Matt Sinclair (double), Robert South (double) and Trevor Winne (triple) all had extra base hits for the Coogs.
