Shane Knight pitched a great game and the COOGS scored just enough to hold off Woodlands Christian at Cougar Field. Knight threw a complete game striking out 8 with only 1 walk. At the plate, the COOGS had 4 hits, 1 each by Trey and Trevor Winne, Matt Sinclair and Chris Willingham. The COOGS also received 7 walks, 3 by Brett Wyatt (1 intentional) 2 by Trevor Winne, who reached base in each plate appearance, and 1 each by Stewart Trahan and Dillon Hendrix. The COOGS were 4 of 5 on stolen bases with 1 each by Trahan, Hendrix, Wyatt and Kyle Martin. |

The varsity baseball team traveled to 2nd Baptist to open district play. The Host team Eagles and their #1 pitcher Ross Seaton were waiting on them. Seaton, a possible 1st round draft choice in this year's draft, struck out 9 in 5 innings as the home team score 11 runs on 5 hits. The Eagles were aided by 10 walks from the Cougar pitching staff. The lone base hit for the Cougars came from Freshman Matt Sinclair who also reached base on a walk. |

Solid pitching by Shane Knight (8 K's, 3 hits and 2 walks) timely hitting (6 runs scored on 6 hits) and aggressive base-running (4 out 5 stolen bases) were again the factors that led to the victory by the Coogs. The win brings the Cougar overall record to 7-6 and their district record to 1-2. |

Kyle Serres continued his hot streak going 3-4 at the plate with 1 SB and 1 RBI. Dillon Hendrix and Joe Cate also had 2 hits each. Brett Wyatt (2B), Trevor Winne (2B) and Cate (3B) all had extra base hits for the Coogs and 2 RBI's each. |

On Friday the Coogs celebrated the retirement of Bob Reeves who was an Assistant coach of the 1994 state championship team here at Northland. Mr. Reeves also served Northland in the business office for almost 2 decades. Unfortunately, the Coogs were not able to put together enough offense to come out with the victory as the visiting team left with a 4-1 victory. Dillon Hendrix was the only Cougar with multiple hits. |

Fans showed up early at Cougar field to recognize seniors from this year's baseball team, but had to stay late as the visiting Lutheran South squad defeated the Cougars 13-6 in extra innings. The Pioneers scored 7 runs in the 9th inning to blow the game open and take the lead for good. The Coogs amassed 9 hits, 2 each by Kyle Serres and Dillon Hendrix. The Coogs will finish the season next week at Lutheran North Monday and at Westbury Christian on Tuesday. |
