On April 5, Northland battled Houston Christian. Jeff Abt was the starting pitcher. The Mustangs were threatening to score in the 1 st Inning, but were shut down by key plays in the infield. Neither team scored in the first 2 Innings. The 3rd Inning proved to be decisive with Houston Christian scoring all of their 5 runs. The Cougars finally got started in the bottom of the 4th with Brett Wyatt driving a double into centerfield. He was advanced to 3rd with a single by Johnathan Martin. Kyle Serres continued the rally with a single to centerfield, driving home Wyatt. Michael Ellisor hit a single driving Serres home. There was no more scoring in the game until the bottom of the 7th Inning with Ethan Carnes doubling in Jeff Abt. But, the Cougars same up short: 5-4.
