On March 5, the Cougars faced St. Pius X. The Cougars got off to an early lead with Ethan Carnes doubling and driving home Michael Ellisor. Carnes was the starting pitcher for the Cougars, and allowed no runs in the first inning. However, the Panthers tied the score in the bottom of the 2nd with a deep drive into left field. Stuart Trahan started the Cougars off in the 3rd inning with a drive to left field. Trahan then stole 2nd bringing up Ethan Carnes. Carnes brought home Trahan on a drive to right field. St. Pius scored one on an error in the bottom of the 3rd. Joe Cate got the Cougars started with a single to left field in the 4th Inning. Cate stole 2nd and was driven in by Shane Knight on drive to left field. Carnes shut down the Panthers in the bottom of the 4th. The Cougars could not add to their lead in the 5th Inning and were shut down. The Panthers scored 2 in the bottom of the 5th on a two-run homerun. The Cougars were again shut down in the top of the 6th, but they allowed the Panthers to score one run in the bottom of the inning. The game tightened up in the 7th Inning with Ellisor driving in Dillon Hendrix. Carnes then got a clutch hit, driving in Ellisor and tying the score at 5. The bottom of the 7th brought in new pitcher Alex Clem. St. Pius had some key base running and a clutch hit ending the game 6-5, in favor of St. Pius X.
