On Tuesday, February 27, Northland took on Bay Area at Cougar Field. Northland got out to an early lead in the 1st Inning. Following Stuart Trahan's great pitching in the top of the inning, Jeff Abt and Johnathan Martin drew walks and Ethan Carnes and Kyle Serres had base hits. Score at the end of the 1st Inning, 3-0. Bay Area came back to tie the score in the top of the 2nd, Cougars unable to answer, keeping the score 3-3 after 2. The top of the 3rd brought Kyle Serres to the mound and he allowed no runs. Bay Area picked up a run in the top of the 4th to go ahead 4-3 and the Cougars bats went silent in the bottom of the 4 th . The Broncos were able to get two men on the bases in the 5 th and bring one more run home on a passed ball. Michael Ellisor got the Cougars started in the bottom of the 5th with a single to right field. Trahan then drew a walk and Abt doubled to right field bringing Ellisor home and Trahan to 3rd. Carnes then drew a walk, loading the bases. Serres hit a blast into left field, scoring Abt and Carnes. Score at the end of the 5th, 6-5. Serres shut the Broncos down with 3 up, 3 down in the top of the 6th. Josh Yerian tried to help the Cougars pad the score with a walk and a steal in the bottom of the 6th, but, the inning ended with a long fly ball by Abt, which was caught by the right fielder. Outstanding defense in the 7th Inning helped Serres complete his sterling pitching performance to end the game, Cougars win 6-5.
