On Monday, February 26, the Cougars played at home against The Woodlands Christian. The Cougars got off to a rough start, allowing 2 runs in the 1st Inning, with Ethan Carnes on the mound. The Cougars were unable to score in the 1st Inning and allowed one more run in the 2nd, but got out of the inning with a great play by Shane Knight. Johnathan Martin tried to put something together for the Cougars after an error in TWCA's infield. Ethan Carnes took over pitching in the 3rd Inning and dominated with 3 straight K's. Josh Yerian started things off in the bottom of the 3rd Inning with a single and Michael Ellisor followed by reaching 1st on an error and advancing Yerian to 3rd. Ellisor then stole 2nd and Yerian stole home on a passed ball with Stuart Trahan at the plate. Trahan then saw one that he liked and smashed it out of the park for a 2 run homerun. TWCA's pitcher proceeded to hit the next two batters and then walked Johnathan Martin, loading the bases. Kyle Serres then singled bringing Jeff Abt home. Next, Shane Knight singled bringing Carnes home. The inning ended with Northland on top, 5-3. For the 2nd straight inning, Carnes mowed their batters down with 3 K's on 10 pitches. In the bottom of the 4th, Northland continued to bully TWCA with their potent offense. Yerian got to 1st on a nice hit to left field, followed with a single from Ellisor. Not to be outdone, Trahan smashed a ball deep into center for a triple, bringing Yerian and Ellisor home. Abt then walked, bringing on a pitching change for TWCA. Abt then stole 2nd and the rattled pitcher lost control with a wild pitch, sending Trahan home and Abt to 3rd. Carnes then doubled to left field bringing Abt home. Dillian Hendricks was brought in to pinch run for Carnes and Johnathan Martin continued the on slot with a double to left field, bringing Hendricks home. With Serres at the plate, the catcher allowed a passed ball, scoring Martin, Serres then singled. Knight singled, sending Serres to 3rd and Brett Wyatt smashed one to center. Yerian then singled. Ellisor then hit into a fielder's choice. Trahan singled and Abt hit deep into right field scoring Trahan and Ellisor. Martin singled, bringing Abt home. Joe Cate then singled pushing Martin to 3rd. The Cougars brought 17 men to the plate in the 4th inning. Score at the end of the 4, Cougars: 17, TWCA: 3. Knight was then brought in to close the game for the Cougars. Final Score: 17-5, Cougars.
