Northland Baseball Dominates in Upset over Episcopal - The Northland Christian baseball team entered another rebuilding year. However, last Friday they showed the potential that does exist in this young, growing program dominating perennial power Episcopal High 17-6. Junior ace, Jeff Abt pitched 4 strong innings, striking out 6 and allowing just 3 earned runs giving way to senior Mark Wilson in the fifth and final frame. The Northland bats came alive, pounding out 11 hits during the contest. Wilson and fellow senior Taylor Morgan led the hit parade with three each. Abt helped his own cause with two hits, an rbi and scoring two runs. Northland's performance against the former SPC state champion was even more impressive given the fact that NCS has two freshman in its starting line-up, with Kyle Serres (shortstop) and Stuart Trahan (second base) starting in the middle of the Cougar defense. The two combined for 1 hit and 4 runs scored. Northland returns to action Tuesday on the road against another power house, Second Baptist. |
